College football season is just kicking off. Whether you’re pulling for Clemson, Carolina, Coastal Carolina or The Citadel, don’t miss a game this season. Instead, watch the excitement from a place that was made for football viewing. Visit any of the spots listed below and you won’t miss a play. Here are a few of the best places to watch football across South Carolina, no matter who you’re rooting for.

In the Upstate:

Carolina Ale House

Located in the heart of downtown Greenville, Carolina Ale House is two floors of football heaven. Flat screen TVs line the walls and hang in every corner. So, whether you’re sitting at one of the two bars or at a table in the restaurant, you’re guaranteed a view of the game. The U-shaped bar is perfect for a large crowd, and the upper level opens up to the outdoors on nice days. Grab a beer and watch your team take on their first game of the season. But be prepared, because this place gets LOUD.

Friars Tavern

A dive bar in downtown Clemson with bar food, beers, and frozen cocktails colored orange and purple. I mean, even their drinks have school spirit, so this must be the place to cheer on your team with some fellow fans. For breaks during the game, stay busy by playing pool at one of the bar’s two pool tables. So, come wearing your orange and purple, ready to scream for your team.

In the Midlands:

Jake’s Bar & Grill

A bar located in the 5 Points area of Columbia, Jake’s is best known for its outside patio. With bars located both inside and outside, pool tables, and TVs hung in almost every corner, the football-lover in you will be in heaven. Mingle with other fans on the huge outside patio and get a pour of draft beer. Whether you’re a USC fan or not, Jake’s is a great place to get your school spirit on and kick of the new football season.

JR’s Road House

This is an old train station-turned bar and it’s where all of the local football fans go. It’s family owned since 1996 and is known for the friendly comradery between customers and staff. If you’re a Carolina fan who wants to be immersed in the Gamecock spirit again, this is where you should be on opening day.

On the Coast:

Bay Street Biergarten (known as the Clemson fan spot)

Located in downtown Charleston, but still widely known as the ‘Clemson fan spot’. But rest assured, there are plenty of beers and TVs to go around, whether you’re a Clemson fan or not. With draft beer stations located right at your table, you’ll never have to get up to order and miss what could be a huge play. And if things get too crowded inside, the Biergarten has a patio with seating outside as well. Order a Biergarten Pretzel and pour yourself a beer from the tap as you yell on your team this Saturday at Bay Street Biergarten.

King Street Grille

King Street boasts multiple huge, flat screen TVs throughout the restaurant. And they always play multiple games at once, so everyone gets to see their team in action. Take a seat and get comfy because, with this view, you might be here a while.
