Cross The Finish Line – Upcoming Races & Marathons

South Carolina has races for runners and walkers of all experience levels. Whether you’re a professional or just looking to be more active, there’s something for everyone! Support a good cause, get a good work-out in and enjoy some good food at one of these upcoming races!

9/11 Heroes Run

Where: Charleston Fire and Police Department, Daniel Island, South Carolina

When: Saturday, September 8 – 9 a.m.

By participating in the 9/11 Heroes Run, you’ll be supporting veterans, first responders, and military. The goal of this race is to never forget the sacrifices of the 9/11 heroes and wars since the tragedy.

Elephant Trot 5k

Where: Port Royal, South Carolina

When: Saturday, September 15, 2018 – 8:30 a.m.

Port Royal’s 1st ever Elephant Trot will have two distances for participants to choose from. The 1/4 mile run will start at 8:30 a.m. with the 5k following. This event benefits Quinnie’s Covers which donates blankets to hospitals in the communities for babies who have passed away or are in critical care.

Ice Cream Sundae 15k/5k

Where: Trailblazer Park, Travelers Rest, South Carolina

When: Sunday, September 16 – 9 a.m.

What better way to exercise than run for a good cause and enjoy some delicious ice cream afterward? The Ice Cream Sundae race allows runners to choose between a 15k and a 5k with a post-race party following filled with ice cream, fun, music, and festivities. You can choose the charity you wish to raise money for.

2018 Komen Lowcountry Race For The Cure

Where: Riverfront Park, North Charleston, South Carolina

When: Saturday, September 22

Choose between a 1-mile or 2-mile race and help fund vital breast cancer health education and screening, treatment programs and support national research.

Storm The Beach 50k

Where: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

When: Saturday, September 22, 2018 – 8 p.m. – 7 a.m.

Storm The Beach is an overnight timed event with an 11-hour time limit ending at 7 a.m. on Sunday, September 23. All participants are required to wear headlamps and reflective vests while running at night. The proceeds will be given as a donation to the US/British Virgin Islands hurricane relief.

Where The Wild Things Run 5k

Where: Thomas Creek Brewery, Greenville, South Carolina

When: Sunday, September 30 – 2 p.m.

Raise funds for a good cause, Wild at Heart Rehabilitation, then enjoy some barbecue and beer included when you register for the race.

Great Pumpkin 5k Race

Where: Dinkins Hall, Winthrop University, Rock Hill, South Carolina

When: Saturday, October 27 – 9 a.m.

Support the Pilgrims Inn dressed in your Halloween costume and help families and individuals at risk of homelessness, are homeless or are having trouble providing for their basic needs. Best costume will win a prize after the run!

Lung Force Run/Walk

Where: Folly Beach Fishing Pier, Charleston, South Carolina

When: Saturday, November 3 – 9 a.m.

Raise awareness and funds to defeat lung cancer and be a voice for lung health by participating in the Lung Force Run/Walk. Then get to know new friends while you enjoy a complimentary breakfast after the event.

Summerville Sweat Tea Half Marathon and 10k

Where: South Main Street, Summerville, South Carolina

When: Saturday, November 10 – 7 a.m.

Whether you want to run the half marathon or the 10k you can get an awesome exercise in while enjoying live entertainment during the race and motivation from each water station. Remember which entertainment and water station you enjoyed most as all participants are encouraged to vote.

Greenville Turkey Day 8k / 5k / Tot Trot

Where: Greenville, South Carolina

When: Thursday, November 22 – 7:45 a.m., 8:10 a.m., 8:30 a.m.

Celebrate Thanksgiving dressed up as a turkey or pilgrim and enjoy a morning of running, walking and a costume contest. The race begins with the tot trot at 7:45 a.m. followed by the 8k, then the 5k.

5th Annual Cocoa Cup 5k

Where: Summerville, South Carolina

When: Saturday, December 15 – 9:30 a.m.

Run through historic Summerville, then warm yourself up with hot cocoa during the holiday festivities and award ceremony. Proceeds from the 5th Annual Cocoa Cup will go to benefit the Lowcountry Food Bank.
