Veterans Day celebrates those who have served our country in war and peace – dead and alive – intended to thank veterans for their sacrifices. The holiday was originally designated to commemorate World War II, the war to end all wars. It now recognizes every who has served or continues to serve. - South Carolina Aquarium, Charleston – Free admission to all veterans and active duty military on Sunday. Immediate family members receive half off admission.
- Chimney Rock State Park – Free admission for veterans, reservists, retired and active military personnel with military ID or proof of service from Nov. 7th to Nov. 11th.
Events
1. Red, White & Blue Festival, Hanahan
The sixth annual Red, White & Blue Veterans day festival will feature military displays, WWII re-enactors from the 36th infantry division, food and craft vendors, kids’ activities, magicians, local bands and more. Head to the Hanahan Amphitheater on Saturday from 9am to 5pm to celebrate. Admission is free to everyone.
2. ‘A Salute to Our Veterans’
What: This concert will feature patriotic music in celebration of those who served our country, performed by the Charleston Community Band and the Charleston Community Band Jazz Ensemble.
When: Noon-4 p.m. Nov. 11
