The Airports Council International (ACI) named a South Carolina airport as the best airport in North America.
The annual Airport Service Quality awards were announced on March 1st and Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport was given the award for best airport in North America for airports serving between 2 and 5 million people every year.
The Airport Service Quality awards are voted on by customers who have traveled through the airports during the previous year. ACI World Director General Luis Felipe de Oliveira said, “This year more than any other, the awards recognize those airports that have listened to their customers and adapted the services and experiences they offer to meet changing needs and expectations under very trying circumstances.
Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport were the only two airports in the southeast area to recieve an award of ‘best airport.’
Dave Edwards, president and CEO of Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, was delighted to hear the news. In a statement on the announcement, Edwards said, “In recent years, the airport has received numerous awards of excellence from industry organizations for our restaurants, retail stores, amenities and marketing activities. However, we are humbled to be recognized with such a prestigious award by the customers who have chosen GSP to meet their air travel needs.”
