Known as the Holy City, few places in South Carolina offer such a rich look into the past as Charleston. The city boasts 1,400 historic homes, churches and old buildings, many available to tour by horse-drawn carriage tours or by exploring on your own. Other notable spots include Fort Sumter, the federal stronghold that guarded Charleston Harbor during the American Civil War, and the South Carolina Aquarium, home to a variety of animals like river otters, rattlesnakes, and rehabilitated sea turtles.

Shop until you drop at Broadway at the Beach (the largest shopping and entertainment centre in the State!) or ride the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel, enjoying a 10 minute ride with spectacular views. To see natural wildlife like egrets and alligators, check out Waccamaw River Nature & Wildlife Tours. For a more peaceful day, just grab some sunscreen and enjoy the sand!

Greenville is a blossoming cultural city known for beautiful views and upcoming talent. The Greenville Center for Creative Arts holds multiple galleries with local and regional art. Those looking to explore the great outdoors can visit one of 30+ waterfalls dotted throughout the Upcountry.  For a bite to eat, stop by The Anchorage, a semifinalist for best new restaurant in the 2018 James Beard Awards that plates homemade pastas and locally sourced meats. For those looking for a drink, check out one of Greenville’s many breweries.

The quieter cousin of Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head is a great place to soak up the sun away from the crowds. Hilton Head has been named America’s favorite island, offering 12 miles of beaches, and extensive opportunities for golf. The island hosts the Coastal Discovery Museum, featuring heritage buildings, trees and themed gardens. It is also home to the Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge salt marsh, housing deer, alligators, and birds. Be sure to enjoy fresh seafood at one of the ocean-view restaurants.

South Carolina’s capital has no shortage of fun spots to visit. Visitors to the Soda City Market can sample hot boiled peanuts (the unofficial state snack!) while browsing local produce, food, and crafts. Meanwhile, science lovers can enjoy the four-story South Carolina State Museum, the largest of its kind with both a science theater and planetarium. Other notable spots in Columbia include Mr. Friendly’s New Southern Café and the Riverbanks Zoo & Garden, home to more than 2000 animals ranging from koala cubs to Komoda dragons.

Call her, beep her, if you want to reach her.

The new Kim Possible live-action movie is set to start production this year and a Columbia teen will bring the popular character to life.

Sadie Stanley, 17 years old, will play Kim Possible alongside Sean Giambrone who will play Ron Stoppable. Together they will take down evil villians in their spare time when they aren’t being normal high school students.

Sadie got the part after her very first audition at age 16. She recently shared this story during an interview with Seventeen magazine, “The first audition for Kim Possible was my very first audition in LA and so I was a little out of my league.”

Although, according to The Senior VP Casting and Talent Relations at Disney Channel, Judy Taylor, you wouldn’t think so. She recently told The Hollywood Reporter “Sadie delivers Kim’s confidence, smarts, and agility; most importantly, she’s an everyday girl with an extraordinary spirit.”

Congratulations to Sadie, we can’t wait to watch.

Originating from North Carolina, Duplin is a family-owned winery dating back to the 1970s. Duplin opened the doors of its second location in North Myrtle Beach back in 2015 including a hand-bottling line. Visitors are able to see how Duplin used to bottle their wine before their growth to the largest winery in the south. They sell over 450,000 cases annually and produced over one million gallons in 2016. Magnolia, one of their award-winning wines, was once featured in Martha Stewart Living as a summertime favorite wine.

Deep Water Vineyard

Just thirty minutes outside of Charleston is beautiful Wadmalaw Island, home to Deep Water Vineyard and beautiful live oaks. This 48-acre winery and vineyard was once known as Irvin House Vineyard before the Irvins retired and transitioned the property to Jesse and Andrea. Deep Water Vineyard is home to a variety of animals, beautiful walking trails, a garden, a large pond, the winery, and Firefly Disterilly. You can enjoy a self-guided tour and tasting any time between 10 am and 5 pm, Tuesday through Saturday.

Island Winery brings in grapes from all around the world including South Carolina, California, Chile, and more. Their uniqueness shines through in their custom labels which each feature artwork from artists who share the same love for Hilton Head. Enjoy a wine and cheese tasting for a large group or a party of two at this cozy winery.

Enoree River Winery is just thirty minutes northwest of Columbia. Here you can relax inside in their upper room or outside on the covered porch overlooking the vineyard. This winery features handcrafted seasonal wines and blended wines throughout the year. They also have wine slushies every Thursday through Sunday in case you’re feeling adventurous and want to try something new. You can also host parties or weddings at the winery in the vineyard pergola which was added in 2016.

It’s time to hit the road and start checking each one off the list. Remember to take home a souvenir wine glass from each and tell us about your experience. Cheers!
