Famous Columbia Crawfish Festival Taking Place in May

Mark your calendars! The annual Rosewood Crawfish Festival will be returning this year on May 1st.

The festival, which had to cancel their 2020 event, will take place at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds. It will be the first festival to take place in Columbia since the onset of the pandemic and will include a plethora of delicious crawfish, local vendors and live music.

On the decision to move forward with the festival, Dave Britt, one of the event’s promoters and event planners, said “I think that in order to find our way back in events someone’s got to do it, and start putting the model together….We just felt like with the pushing of the vaccine, the timing, it seems like we would probably be able to do it safely, and we just wanted to get some people back to Rosewood and get involved with events again.

To protect staff and patrons, the festival will require everyone to wear masks when they are not eating or drinking and will limit the number of people allowed in the venue.

Featured Image Credit: Eventbrite

If you haven’t taken a bite out of North Charleston, now is your chance to get a taste. This Sunday, October 7th, 2018 marks the inaugural event for the Taste of North Charleston. From 4pm to 8pm, guests all around the tri-county area are invited to the all-new ExQuis EVent & Conference Center at 5101 Ashley Phosphate Road, to see all the North Charleston’s food and bev scene has to offer.

Charleston ranks yearly as one of the top destination cities in the U.S. full of locally owned and operated restaurants, and North Charleston is no exception. The goal of the event is to bring North Charleston out of its shell and make the Taste of North Charleston an annual event at different locations throughout the area. These non-spotlighted districts deserve an opportunity for exposure to make a footprint.

The event, hosted by the Hospitality Expansion Council of the Southeastern Chamber of Commerce, is open to the public and children. For only $15 early bird special, and $20 general admission, North Charleston vendors, accompanied by some neighboring spots, will provide two to three ounce samples of their signature menu items. Those who indulge will then vote on their favorite tastings, spirits and desserts.

A portion of proceeds will benefit 3 non profit organizations including The Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy, The Firefighters Support Team of North Charleston, and the Jack and Jill Foundation. The remaining proceeds will cover event expenses, future marketing, advertising and events focused around growth and awareness of the Taste, its supporters and businesses within the city of North Charleston.

Along with music and entertainment, the festivities will also include a cocktail competition and a vendor alley with exhibits from area nonprofit and for-profit businesses and organizations. There will also be an Opening Wine Tasting today from 7pm to 10pm and prior to the event on Sunday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm, a Taste of Tech Business Hour. From traditional to eclectic, every palate will be met with a bite or sip to satisfy your cravings. Expect to leave this scrumptious event with a new local favorite.

Tickets are available here.

There is also still time to become a vendor or a sponsor, those interested can apply here.
