It’s South Carolina Week For The Animals!

Friday, August 10th marked the start of South Carolina’s Week for the Animals. Not sure what a ‘week for the animals’ entails, exactly? Don’t worry, we’ve broken down this week into special events that are happening all over the state to benefit our furry friends (and the not-so-furry ones, too). From turtles to fish, from horses to cats, there is an event for every type of animal lover this week. Check out the list below for some of the main events coming up. Friday, August 10: SC Aquarium Beer from Here, After Hours Event

Located at the SC Aquarium in the Charleston Harbor from 7:00 pm to 10:00pm. This is a craft beer experience suited best for sea-life lovers. There will be tasting stations throughout the aquarium where guests get a chance to taste local brews while checking out the wildlife. There will be a few snacks, too. Sustainably-sourced appetizers will be offered from SC Aquarium’s partners at Good Catch.

Need to know: Tickets are all-inclusive and are $45, or $40 for SC Aquarium members.

Sunday, August 12: Goodlife Café Brunch Buffet for the Animals

The Goodlife Café in Columbia, SC is offering a brunch to benefit animals at the Cotton Branch Farm Sanctuary. Not familiar with this nonprofit? It’s a farm that takes in abused, neglected, abandoned and elderly farm animals.

Need to know: 10:15am-1:00pm

20% of all sales go to the Cotton Branch Farm Sanctuary.

Tuesday, August 14: Horry County Animal Care Center Pet Vaccination Clinic

This clinic will be offering a number of services and vaccinations, including:

Rabies: $10 for both dogs and cats at least 4-months old

Distemper/Parvo: $10 for dogs at least 8-weeks old

Bortadella: $10 for dogs at least 8-weeks old

Rhinotracheitis/Calici: $10 for both dogs and cats at least 8-weeks old

Microchip insertion: $15 for both dogs and cats at least 8-weeks old

*Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a pet carrier

Need to know: 10:00am-2:00pm

Sunday, August 19: Folly Doggy Paddle

Hosted by Coastal Expeditions and Charleston Animal Society. FREE kayaking or Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) for with a donation of 25lb (or more) of pet food. Or, buy a ticket by following the link below. Dogs are welcome to hop in the kayak with you or ride on your paddleboard! *Paddleboarding for small dogs only.
