While half the world was in theaters watching “Avengers: Endgame” last night, the rest of the world was watching the 2019 NFL Draft.
Kicking off with a bang, hundreds of Thousands of people flocked to Nashville last night to attend the first night of the 2019 NFL Draft. Among those people were the talented football players eligible to be selected. And, of those football players, there was a handful that came right from the Palmetto State.
There were a total of fourteen players representing South Carolina. Eleven coming from Clemson University and three coming from the University of South Carolina.
While there were no Gamecocks selected during round 1, there were three Tigers picked in round 1.
The Oakland Raiders used their number 4 overall pick to select Clemson defensive end, Clelin Ferrell. This was a surprise to many who thought Ferrell wouldn’t be selected until late in round 1 or possibly round 2. NFL Network Insider, Ian Rapoport predicted earlier this week that the Raiders would surprise us with their pick after sending their scouts home early.

Another surprise round 1 pick, the Miami Dolphins selected Christian Wilkins. The Dolphins used their number 13 overall pick to pick up the defensive tackle. Senior NFL Writer Pete Prisco gave this pick an A+ stating he thought Wilkins was going to be a star.
Lawrence was the final player from a South Carolina school to be selected in round 1. And, he’s heading to New York. The Giants had the number 17 overall pick and selected Lawrence. Lawrence is a massive defensive tackle from Clemson University and was another surprise round 1 pick.
Rounds 2 and 3 will take place tonight, Friday, April 26 starting at 7 p.m. followed by rounds 4 through 7 on Saturday at Noon. Lookout for the following players to be selected during these rounds:
